I don't necessarily believe the acquisition of Astral is a risk, but without taking away from the amazing work they've done to drag python packaging out of the mud, it seems likely that the good parts of uv will be adopted into the standard tooling and it makes sense to use that instead where possible. Since pip 26.1.1, support for PEP 751 (pylock.toml) is included.
